What are you looking for in an essay?
The way a candidate responds is subject to their own interpretation of the question, their creativity, and also the ability to effectively analyze their own personal situation. Usually, what admission representatives are looking for are a realistic and accurate appraisal of one’s abilities in future prospects, the clear understanding of the possibilities, a clear understanding of the possibilities an MBA can offer, and also the suitability to the goals of the candidate. Maturity and also I would say humility should be demonstrated as this one is an important and a central part to becoming a part of the MBA class and for post-MBA placements. Finally, what we look for as well is the ability to think outside the box.
What do I need to include in my essays?
Candidates can tackle the question by dividing the answer into separate pieces. First of all, they should analyze the past professional experience. So candidates should clearly describe decisions, career decisions to date. Secondly, they should pass to create progressions and change so list the areas in which they excelled and all the new skills they developed and why they’ve taken the path of change. They should consider all job changes and reasons they made why they wanted to change.
And the last part should be about future career goals in the short and long term. At each time they should demonstrate why and how these experiences, these goals should motivate them to get into the MBA and how the MBA would help them attain their goals. So we look for plans that are clear and complete and for candidates who actually are truly enthusiastic about them. So answer that demonstrates why an MBA is a chance is a challenge and also a choice for their career path and future goals.
How can I prepare for the interview?
The MBA motivational interview is, in many sense, similar to a professional interview. So can candidates during the interview should demonstrate to be suitable not merely for the MBA but also for post-MBA placement. Candidates should be prepared to speak frankly about themselves, their work history, their past experiences, and future goals. Questions are designed to evaluate certain characteristics and qualities in a candidate including assertiveness, orientation to achievement, responsibility and maturity, ability to communicate, ability to learn and commit to the study of the MBA, and ability to work in teams.
So finally, they should discuss and provide concrete examples to support their answers. While preparing for the interview, candidates should not neglect the importance of communication skills including clarity of expression, eye contact, and body language. It is important to see that a candidate is confident and sure of what he or she is saying.
How important is the GMAT?
The GMAT test is an important part of the candidate’s application. The standardized test proves to be a very useful tool as an objective and unbiased evaluation of analytical skills. Our particular interest is that those performing well on the test demonstrate their ability to reason and solve quantitative problems, but we should not forget that this is a complement to the other components of the application which are more subjective. So candidate’s work experience and study history, quality of their application that, and performance during the interview are also very important. So while there is no denying that the GMAT is very important as part of the application, however, in admitting a candidate we take into consideration all aspects and for a candidate should be well-rounded and have a rich skill set and experience.
What does an ideal candidate possess?
The international MBA is aimed at young talents seeking experience in international markets and a hands-on learning experience. The ideal candidate has developed skills through professional experience and possesses the talent and the motivation to excel in their chosen careers. Ambition, independence, and humility are also highly decisional characteristics. The MBA student usually is graded to step outside of the comfort zone, stretch the mind and be challenged in real world business situations as practical fields are an important part of the program. Candidates, finally, must also display cultural sensibility, highly developed communication skills, and the willingness to promote diversity.
